winter garden We hope all our gardeners are enjoying a little down time this winter and making plans for their garden in the coming year.

We are making some changes here at Common Ground. The tool lending program, previously referred to as the Garden Resource Shed, has moved to the Kalamazoo Land Bank on Riverview Drive. This will allow a staff member to be more available to loan out tools when you need them.

We are also working on launching a new website which will be completed this winter – so look for changes coming here soon.

A couple of our signature events have already been scheduled on our 2019 calendars, so make sure you get them on yours!

Community garden plant start giveaway: May 16, 2019, 4:00 – 6:30 pm

During the Plant Start Giveaway, community gardens are welcome to send someone to pick up their share of plant starts. Although the variety changes each year, we usually have common garden plants such as tomatoes, beans, squash, etc. to get you started for the growing season. Seeds will also be available for free!

Visit our Plant Start Giveaway page for more information.

Community Garden Tour: July 17, 2019, 6:00 – 8:30 pm

Take a guided tour of several community gardens in the Kalamazoo area and learn how these gardens are improving neighborhoods, building community, and encouraging healthy lifestyles in Kalamazoo. In addition to our tour guide there will be a garden member at each garden to answer specific questions. Participants have a choice between a guided bus tour or a guided bicycle tour.

More details will be available as we get closer!
