1017 S. Park Street, Kalamazoo
Fruit of the Vine was established in June of 2014, when an abandoned house was taken down. Neighbors gathered, and decided to create a small haven of fruit trees and bushes, creating some useful beauty in the midst of this busy urban area. In addition to cherry, apple, and pear trees, there are strawberry beds, and several varieties of berry bushes. Using wild strawberrry plants as ground cover, and native flowers for color and beauty, this garden should be quite self sustaining, and low maintenance.
They are building a low wall to create an historic look, using stones from the foundation of the old house. There is a Monarch Way Station at the back of the property, and a Little Lending Library at the front.
